I'm back.

I just finished my undergrad degree in psychology and began grad degree in psychology. I took a break from blogging for about a year. I was running of and on here and there. I had developed a nasty habit of consuming too much alcohol to de-stress after work. Well, recently I felt a calling from God (he used my wife's voice) to find alternate methods of de-stressing. I began running about a mile a day 3-4 days a week. I feel good. My New Balance mid strike running shoes are amazing and the running app on my phone is very encouraging. Try it. Think far.

Been Away

I have been away for a while. Had to attend some weddings and receptions and take two psychology courses in less than two months! Today, however, I went back to the gym. I did not step into the gym for about a month now. I biked, did pull ups, dips, and hit the sauna. What I discovered is that sauna really helps you shed some pounds off! I realize this is old news but I hated the sauna until recently. I used my apartment sauna and liked the feeling. But be careful while using it, I start to feel sleepy due to the heat. And take water with you. Do not sleep and if you don't feel good, GET OUT of the sauna.

The Benefits

Feeling good about yourself, looking good, melting stress away, and better health are all benefits of running. These are, by no means, the only benefits but part of the many good things running can help you with. It is the best way of losing body fat, by experience. It is the best way of losing inches of your waist, by experience. You can eat well but without exercise, emphasis on running, you won't get to you optimum health level. Go run for yourself.

Puma's

Does the battle sport a such contour?

Amazingly enough I have not run since Saturday. I ran about a mile and half on Saturday. I plan to get back to running, hopefully later on today or tomorrow. Meanwhile, I have been trying to break in the new Puma's I bought last week. They are comfortable for walking and running. The top material seems to be waterproof and the cushioning seems to work very well. I wore these most of past weekend and they still feel like new shoe's. They also seem to be good at trail running, which I would like when I do go trail running.

Trail running used to be very fun and I loved it but, ever since I moved out of my parent's house, I discontinued trail running. You certainly need proper shoes with a lot traction in order to do trail running. These Puma's look like they have a lot of traction and the right amount of cushioning. The waterproof upper material does seem to be made for trail running. I would advice anyone out there looking to purchase a nice pair of running shoe's, give Puma's a chance and you will not be disappointed.

New Shoe's

I went running with my new Puma running shoes. Wow, they were amazing. I ran 2 miles without feeling much pain. These shoe's have proper cushion support in all the right area's. What's even more cool is that they are SF Giants color. Gotta love them orange and black. I simply love these shoe's. They make running so much better.

Running and Stressing

Stress from work, family, or any other source can be, well, quite stressful! It is better to deal with stress at it's source rather than letting it build up. While running may not be the answer to all of life's stress, it can certainly make dealing with them better. You can function at peak physical fitness levels when dealing with stress. You can manage to feel good about yourself, even in the midst of all the stress. So run and keep running for a better health and well being.

Procrastinated Workout

Procrastinate! Yes, I finally jumped on a stationary bike today. I finally worked out. I have been procrastinating all last week. I didn't want to head to the gym today but I did. It felt good to get a workout in. I have noticed that three workouts per week seem to benefit me quite well. I feel refreshed after a workout. Learning to stop procrastinating is difficult.

Healing

Running seems to have a healing effect on many people. Individuals who jog seem to be relaxed and open minded about a variety of things. Individuals who hate running, seem to be a little on the apprehensive side about a variety of topics. Well, this certainly encourages me to continue running. Hopefully I can stop being lazy.

Feeling Lazy

I have not run in five days! I feel slow and lazy. The thought of running makes want to hide in my bed! But it is necessary for me to run. It is a good way to be physically fit. This is not helping, it is not motivating me to run. Have you ever gone through this? The best way solution to this problem is to get out and run. Put all your thoughts aside and just run. You will be better able to think after running.

Warm Up

Stretching before running makes sure that you will run again. I heard this quite a bit while growing up. My dad used to live by this motto. He would always stretch before his jogs. I learned to do warm ups in high school. I continue to warm up before running. It does help me feel better and return to running. I have tried running without warming up and my legs were hurting for almost one week. I returned to running one week later instead of one day. Warming up does make a difference, a BIG difference!

Inspiration

What inspires you? Today, I read an article which stated that athletes are inspired by movies. While this may be true, I think that there is a deeper source of inspiration than Hollywood. My inspiration comes from the fact that I am getting old and need to take care of my health. What could your inspiration be?

Run Weights Bike

I usually run before I weight training. It is a habit from high school. During weight training, I concentrate on upper and lower body muscles. Then the core muscles. I have also found biking to be helpful. Jumping on a bike after weight training seems to keep me agile. My muscles do not feel tight but more flexible and relaxed. Usually, biking for one mile is good for me. This order of working out has definately given me positive results.

Marathon Brew

I read an article which stated six best beers to drink after running a marathon. I do not remember them all but only one: Boston Marathon by Samuel Adams. It got me to thinking, I like beer and have always thought that light beer was the answer to cutting down calories. Well to my surprise there are marathon beers! The article went on to state that beer replenishes lost nutrients and hydrates better than water. I simply have to say, WOW!  I had no clue.

No running ill

I didn't blog or run yesterday. I was sick with a cold. My energy seemed to be drained and I could not run. I feel much better today and maybe I will go for a run. "Maybe" is a big word and I do not think I will be able to run. I have told people in past to recover completely from your sickness and then exercise. I will use my advice.

Your Move!!!

Dry skin, for me, seems to reduce performance. Keeping skin properly lubricated seems to increase performance. Simply putting on lotion after shower appears to be a good remedy for fighting dry skin. Skin is the first line of defense against many attacks on the body so keep your skin healthy. Sweat also lubricates skin but I find it very uncomfortable to live with dry skin. Overtime dry skin can look ugly so please lubricate your skin.

Fun Run

I recently read a magazine article which stated that workouts are more beneficial when you do it for the fun of it. I completely agree because I have found myself getting too lazy to hit the treadmill when I think of working out as an obligation. I have tried to think of it as fun and it really motivated me. I thinking of working out as not an obligation but as a fun way to relieve stress built from my obligations. So go ahead and run for fun.

Habit Thing

Two weeks ago I went to my gym parking lot and sat in my car. I was too lazy to workout. Just the thought of running made me tired! At church, past Sunday, I learned that in order to routinely do anything, you must first make a habit of doing that thing. Through this process, that particular "thing" becomes easier to deal with. I agree and acknowledge that I need to make running a daily habit.

Running away

If it feels like the world is closing in on you, try running. Go for a jog around your neighborhood or a park. While running, try to look at natural green and blue colors. This appears to relax, at least my, eyesight and relieve some stress! It works for me so I wanted to share it with you. Go ahead, give it a try, just do not forget to look, also, at your running path! Stay safe and enjoy nature while running.

Super Lite!!

I tried some new running shoes today. They were Nike's. I was simply amazed at how lite they were. My current running shoe's really need to be replaced, now! These shoes were awesome. I did not get the model name down but I am certain athletic stores will carry them. Super Lite!!!

Humidity

I find it difficult to run in humid weather. Here, in California, we do not encounter humidity very much so it makes it even more difficult when I do encounter it in other places. I guess it's simply because I'm not used to it. One of my friends told me of playing sports in humid weather and just how difficult it was. It's quiet uncomfortable. Adding shoe's and socks to that weather makes it even more unbearable. While on a mission trip to Belize, I played basketball in humid weather and did not do so well. I was sweating more than usual and was very uncomfortable. The humid air felt like a heavy weighted burden on me! Drinking cold water helped and that is what I kept doing. During basketball, I took breaks to cool down and I think that was smarter than to continue playing.
